Pregnancy Due Date

When you find that you are pregnant, one of the first things you will want to do is find out your pregnancy due date. Your doctor may ask you a series of questions and then give you a date. What you should remember about the date is that it is not set in stone. Most people do not give birth on their pregnancy due date, and you may find that many women go over by at least a few days. This can be quite frustrating, and I wish doctors would explain this better when they talked to newly expecting mothers.

Their pregnancy due date is always an estimate. Though you may be induced or have a C-section on a certain day, you can never say that you know the exact a you will give birth. Your pregnancy due date is an educated guess, but should be treated as such. If this day comes and goes and you have not yet given birth, that does not mean that something is wrong, or that you should get upset or frustrated. Your baby will come out when it is supposed to. Babies have their own timetables, and if you get frustrated with your due date, you aren't going to be able to handle motherhood very easily.

Also remember that your pregnancy due date might be pretty accurate, but if you have longer cycles than the average woman, you are take might be off by more than a week. When doctors give a pregnancy due date, they usually do so by use of a pregnancy wheel. This pregnancy wheel assumes that you have a twenty-eight day menstrual cycle. Most women do not. If you have a cycle that goes in five or six week increments, the pregnancy due date given to you buy a pregnancy wheel will not be accurate.

As your pregnancy due date gets near, you're going to be more uncomfortable than you probably have ever been in your life. There is a lot going on with your body, and even though you are giving birth to a baby, that baby is almost treated like an alien by your body. Your body may have been built to have a baby, but it doesn't mean it can accommodate the growing child easily. Just remember that the more uncomfortable you feel, and the closer you get your pregnancy due date, that it will all be over very soon.
